As a North Carolina native, John Willis grew up on Core Sound before making Raleigh home in the late 1990’s. From an early love of drawing and reading that carried through his school years and beyond, creativity has been a constant thread in his life. With more than 20 years in graphic design and 15 years dedicated to the sign industry, he has developed a keen eye for typography and finds satisfaction in seeing his designs transformed into signs that stand the test of time. Before settling into his design career, John wore many hats, from being a painter to a waiter to a professional oyster shucker, all of which have given him a deep appreciation for hard work and adaptability. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife and two young children, whether it’s a family trip to the beach or a walk in nature. He also still enjoys reading, as well as skateboarding and the occasional game of basketball.
